We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated School Occupational Therapist to join our Team!QUALIFICATIONS:- Current license as an occupational therapist in the state of employment- Experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in a school-based setting- Strong knowledge of child development, educational practices, and the Individuals withDisabilities Education Act (IDEA) preferred.- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills- Proficient in documentation, data analysis, and report writing- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary teamNATURE OF POSITION:The school-based occupational therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing occupational therapy services for students with disabilities or special needs within the school environment. The primary goal is to help students develop, improve, and maintain the skills necessary for successful participation in academic, social, and functional activities.RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess students.Develop individualized intervention plans that target the student's specific needs and goals,addressing areas such as fine and gross motor skills, visual-motor integration, self-care, etc.Provide direct occupational therapy services, including individual and group therapy sessions,to help students improve their functional abilities and achieve their goals.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals to ensure acomprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to supporting students' educational anddevelopmental needs.Provide consultation, training, and education to school staff, parents, and other team membersto help them understand and support the students' occupational therapy needs.Document student progress, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and complete requiredreports and paperwork in a timely manner.Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs),504 plans, and other educational plans.Supervise/oversee COTA's.Stay current with evidence-based best practices, research, and trends in school-basedoccupational therapy and implement appropriate strategies and interventions.Collaborate with community providers, agencies, and resources to ensure a seamlesscontinuum of care for students and their families.Maintain professional development, continuing education, and licensing/certificationrequirements.PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Position requires frequent standing and walking throughout building and ACADEMY grounds. Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel and bend. Occasionally lifts and carries materials or items weighing up to 20 pounds. Ability to use senses: sight, hearing, smell and touch. Ability to type; uses hand/eye coordination for typing and data entry.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Satisfactory criminal background check.
