Industrial Maintenance Technician

A year-round, high-volume union food manufacturing facility is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician to support canning, packaging, and processing operations across fresh-pack and off-pack seasons. This role is hands-on with production equipment, mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, installation support, and line coverage when needed.

The best-fit candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, industrial machinery experience, and the flexibility to work seasonal production schedules in a fast-paced food manufacturing plant.

Location: Clyman, WI

Schedule:

Off-pack season, December-May, standard shift is 4:30 PM-1:30 AM.

Fresh vegetable processing season, June-November, typically two 10-12 hour shifts per day: 4:30 AM-4:00 PM and 4:00 PM-4:30 AM. Shifts may vary based on production needs.

Compensation: Public salary data shows an estimated Maintenance Mechanic range of approximately $30.54-$36.78/hr in Clyman, WI, with final rate based on experience, classification, and union structure

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair food processing, canning, packaging, and auxiliary production equipment.
  • Cut, form, assemble, and repair replacement parts and machine guards.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and mechanical repair work as needed.
  • Oil, grease, inspect, and maintain conveyors, piping, gears, motors, and related equipment.
  • Inspect and test machinery to identify root causes of equipment issues.
  • Assist with rigging, aligning, installing, and commissioning new or upgraded equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, parts records, and compliance documentation.
  • Support production by operating or relieving canning-line roles when needed.
  • Follow GMP, OSHA, lockout/tagout, and plant safety standards.
  • Work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, sanitation, and quality teams.

Qualifications

  • 3-12 months of industrial machinery experience or strong hands-on mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic troubleshooting and tool knowledge.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read basic schematics, work instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to certify quickly.
  • Ability to work in a union facility and support team-based production.
  • Flexible approach to shift work and peak-season overtime.
  • Strong attendance, communication, and safety focus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food, beverage, packaging, canning, manufacturing, or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Welding, fabrication, plumbing, controls, or PLC exposure.
  • Conveyor, gear, pump, motor, bearing, drive, piping, or machine-guard repair experience.
  • Experience with maintenance records, parts inventory, or audit-ready documentation.
  • Apprenticeship, technical school, military mechanical, machine shop, automotive, construction, or equipment-repair background.
