HWX Enterprises is seeking an experienced Toolmaker for multiple direct-hire opportunities with our clients in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors.
This position requires a highly skilled individual capable of independently building, modifying, and repairing complex tooling and fixtures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure projects meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production timelines.
These are permanent, long-term positions with strong production demand and advancement opportunity.
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate a variety of machine tools including grinders, engine lathes, Bridgeport mills, and other manual shop equipment
Fabricate, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, and components
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, material specifications, and GD&T
Plan machining processes by reviewing work orders, dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements
Coordinate tooling projects with other departments to ensure alignment with production and quality standards
Lead and support team members on assigned projects
Enforce quality control and safety procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments
High school diploma required; technical training preferred
Minimum 7 years of toolmaking or shop experience, including leadership or team lead responsibilities
Experience building and modifying fixtures in aerospace manufacturing environments
Strong blueprint reading skills and GD&T knowledge
Proficient with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Highly motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
Strong work ethic with ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and rotate trunk
Day Shift
Monday–Friday (8–10 hour shifts)
Saturday (6–8 hours)
Weekend availability required
Standard work schedule averages approximately 56 hours per week, including Saturday shifts. Consistent overtime is available and expected due to strong production demand.
Relocation assistance is not provided.
Valid driver’s license required.
