You will set up and run Star Swiss equipment, control quality at the machine, and keep production moving efficiently and safely.

A day in the life

  • Select, install, and qualify tooling; update fixturing; set work/geometry/tool offsets for a clean startup.
  • Perform medium-complexity setups on production parts (non-CFA, FA, or SCR jobs).
  • Load raw material/parts and run to plan, monitoring tool life and wear; change tools per the tool-life schedule.
  • Produce an internal first article and make any offset/tooling adjustments needed to pass QA.
  • Inspect parts at the machine with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pins, and other precision tools.
  • Read and apply blueprint requirements and advanced GD&T to align print, program, and setup for conformance.
  • Deburr in-process work and maintain part identification, counts, labels, and stamps per shop-paper procedures.
  • Track standard times, and proactively alert your lead/supervisor if a job is trending over or under target.
  • Clock in/out of each operation by the sequence number on the work order.
  • Champion Lean/Continuous Improvement and 5S to eliminate waste and sustain a clean, organized area.
How you’ll collaborate
  • Operate with strong self-management and professionalism across teams and departments.
  • Listen, communicate clearly, and incorporate new ideas and different viewpoints.
  • Translate verbal/written instructions and even handmade sketches into action.
  • Bring a quick-learning, adaptable, problem-solving mindset to every setup and run.
Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating Star Swiss equipment (required).
  • Strong background in 4- and 5-axis machining concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing scheduling/shop control systems (Epicor experience is a plus).
Physical demands
  • Close vision and focus adjustment to read dials, blueprints, and precision gages for part inspection.
  • Able to listen for changes in machine sounds and respond appropriately.
  • Regular standing, walking, pushing, overhead reach, and bending; frequent sitting and fine hand work.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of items up to 50 lbs.
Work environment
  • Loud machining areas with moving equipment and rotating components.
  • Potential exposure to fumes, mist, dust, cutting fluids, and oils.
Safety
  • Follow all applicable EHS regulations, company policies, and safe-work practices.
  • Use required PPE and adhere to shop-safety standards at all times.
