Position Summary:
The Pipe Welder is responsible for welding and assembling pipe systems in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and industry standards. This role requires precision welding techniques to ensure strong, leak-free, and durable joints for piping systems used in shipbuilding, marine, and industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, copper-nickel, and other alloys using SMAW, GTAW, and/or GMAW processes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to determine job requirements.
- Fit, align, and tack-weld pipe components in preparation for final welding.
- Inspect and test completed welds to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper use of tools and consumables.
- Adhere to OSHA, company, and shipyard safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with pipefitters and supervisors to meet production schedules.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 2–5 years of pipe welding experience in shipyards, industrial plants, or construction.
- Strong knowledge of welding procedures, codes, and standards (AWS, ASME).
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
