Job Description
MK Magnetics (www.mkmagnetics.com) specializes in the production of custom and standard tape wound soft magnetic cores for transformers and inductors. All the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, California, in a modern 75,000 sq. ft. facility specifically designed and built for manufacturing tape wound magnetic cores.

Position Overview:
This entry to intermediate level position is responsible for learning the procedures and techniques involved in the slitting of raw material to specific dimensions to be used in the manufacturing of tape wound magnetic cores; increasing job tasks and responsibilities as skills are perfected.
Responsibilities:
- Observes senior Slitter Operator during set-up of slitter to learn procedures and techniques.
- Loads coiled raw material on to pay-off shaft using forklift.
- Feeds raw material through slitter, checking material for burrs and warping of material, and attaches to re-coiler.
- Manipulates flow of material by adjusting controls and keeps material straight by hitting plates with mallet.
- Continuously monitors quality of material being fed into slitter and that of the slit material, informing senior Slitting Operator and/or Supervisor of any concerns immediately.
- Identifies slit material by writing width and material number on coils.
- Removes coils from re-coiler shaft; physically or with mechanical assistance and weighs material.
- Documents coil weight on Slitting Report and coil.
- Places slit material on racks; physically or with mechanical assistance.
- Monitors equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation and reports any concerns to senior Slitting Operator or Shop Foreman.
- Labels secondary containers per the Hazardous Communication Plan.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Actively increases knowledge of Slitting Department including those skills required to advance to Slitting Operator II status.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), preferred
- Minimum one year experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience as a Machine Operator and/or Sheet Metal Fabricator
- Hand and power tools used in manufacturing work; especially tools used for precision measurement.
- Forklifts and other material handling equipment, preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and procedures
- Hazards and safety precautions used in the manufacturing industry, preferred
- Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to calculate quantities, measurements, weights, etc.
- Able to work 2nd shift 3pm-1130pm
