Title: Manual/CNC Lathe Machinist
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday)
Salary: $28.00 – $35.00+/hr (Depending on experience)
Manual/CNC Lathe Machinist Role:
Our client is seeking a Manual/CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC lathes to manufacture large-diameter precision components. This position exists to execute high-quality turning operations, maintain strict quality standards, and drive efficient production within the machine shop.
Manual/CNC Lathe Machinist Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes for complex turning operations
Work with large-diameter parts ranging from 20" to 40"+ in diameter
Safely operate overhead cranes to load, position, and unload heavy components into the lathe
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments
Perform tool selection, setup, and regular maintenance for machining operations
Conduct continuous quality control inspections to ensure parts meet tight tolerances
Monitor material behaviors during turning processes and adjust speed or feeds accordingly
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards
Manual/CNC Lathe Machinist Reporting Relationships:
Reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor; this position has no direct reports.
About You:
Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent education
Hold 3+ years of hands-on CNC machine operation experience
Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and solid blueprint reading skills
Maintain experience operating overhead cranes for heavy part management
Show familiarity with various metal materials and their behavior during turning
Lift up to 50 lbs safely on a regular basis
Collaborate effectively as an active, dependable team player
Possess technical or vocational machining training (a strong plus)
