Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC systems, including chillers, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and refrigeration systems.
The technician should have a solid understanding of refrigeration principles, refrigerants and gases, HVAC electrical systems, and the ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chillers and compressors.
- Diagnose issues involving evaporators, condensers, refrigerant systems, and associated components.
- Understand how refrigerants and various gases function within HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Troubleshoot basic to intermediate electrical systems and controls.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and HVAC schematics.
- Diagnose system performance issues and determine appropriate repairs.
- Check pressures, temperatures, electrical components, and system operation.
- Perform refrigerant-related maintenance and repairs in accordance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
- Inspect HVAC equipment and identify potential failures before they result in downtime.
- Perform equipment adjustments, component replacements, and repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable HVAC/refrigeration regulations.
- Work closely with the maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- 3–5 years of HVAC mechanic/technician experience in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of chillers and compressors.
- Knowledge of evaporators, condensers, refrigerants, and refrigeration cycles.
- Understanding of how HVAC gases and refrigerants work within HVAC systems.
- Experience with HVAC electrical troubleshooting and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to use standard HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work safely around electrical equipment and pressurized refrigerant systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work Monday through Saturday.
- HVAC/R certification or technical training.
- EPA 608 certification.
- Experience working with 480V electrical systems is strongly preferred.
- Industrial or manufacturing HVAC experience.
- Experience with large-scale chillers, compressors, and refrigeration equipment.
Pay: $30–$40/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule: Monday–Saturday.
Candidates should be comfortable working in an industrial environment and responding to HVAC equipment issues as needed.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on HVAC professional with strong troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of refrigeration systems, chillers, compressors, evaporators, condensers, refrigerants, and HVAC electrical systems. The ability to read schematics and safely troubleshoot 480V equipment is highly valued.
