Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with preventative, routine, and corrective maintenance of hospital buildings, equipment, and systems. This role supports a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff by performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks across the facility.Essential Job FunctionsThe Maintenance Technician will:Demonstrate Vista Health's Standards of Behavior and consistently utilize the AIDET communication approach when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.Comply with all organizational, departmental, and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and mandatory education.Support Vista Health strategic initiatives and adapt to operational changes. Utilize appropriate communication channels and chain of command.Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance of buildings and equipment, including:Minor repairs to patient care and transport equipment such as beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, carts, and tray tablesAssisting with repairs to medical gas systems, sterilizers, and operating tablesMinor plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, piping, and fixturesMinor electrical repairs, including lighting, control devices, panels, dietary equipment, and refrigeration equipmentAdjustment of thermostats and installation of orthopedic traction setupsHanging shelves and pictures; moving furniture and boxes as neededDocument completed work accurately and timely using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including work orders, preventive maintenance sheets, and activity logs.Perform snow removal and other facility support duties as assigned.Complete all work safely to prevent injury and maintain a safe environment.Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness during emergencies or special projects.InteractionsInternal: Daily interaction with hospital staff at all levelsExternal: Daily interaction with patients and visitors; weekly interaction with vendorsWorking ConditionsThis position requires frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and carrying materials and equipment. The role may involve:Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently and over 50 lbs occasionallyExposure to infectious or contagious diseasesWearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredOccasional irregular hours and emergency call-insDaily exposure to bloodborne pathogens may occur.Visual and Hearing RequirementsAbility to see with corrective eyewearAbility to hear clearly with assistanceMinimum QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalent requiredTrade or vocational training in electricity or plumbing preferredExperience:No prior experience requiredSkills & Knowledge:Basic knowledge of hand tools and their proper useAbility to read and understand technical manuals and safety proceduresLicensure/Certification:None requiredAdditional RequirementsOn-call and call-in availability is requiredTravel to other Vista Health System locations may be requiredDisclaimerThis job description is not a contract of employment.
