Precision VMC Operator
Job Description
Four days on, three days off. You’ll work Monday–Thursday on 2nd shift, running ten-hour shifts that give you a long weekend every week. You arrive to a clean, organized cell, review setup documentation and Job Instruction Manuals (JIM Books), and get your milling centers warmed up. From there, it’s all about producing repeatable, high-quality parts—safely and efficiently.
What a Shift Looks Like- Run established CNC vertical machining centers following setup sheets and work instructions.
- Load and unload parts, verify offsets/tool touch-offs as directed, and keep production moving at the expected rate.
- Keep an eye on machine behavior, escalate tooling or equipment issues to supervision promptly, and help maintain uptime.
- Check part quality in-process using calipers and micrometers; read basic blueprints to confirm critical features.
- Record accurate production data in JobBOSS, complete job travelers, and finish all required quality documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Set-Up Technicians, Quality, and Production Supervisors; pitch in wherever needed across the department.
- Follow safe machining practices, know emergency stop procedures, and keep your station spotless and audit-ready.
- Interpret basic prints and work instructions to understand features and specs.
- Verify parts meet customer requirements before continuing production.
- Identify, segregate, and report scrap or suspect material immediately.
- Document inspections completely and accurately.

- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of CNC machining experience.
- Ability to read basic blueprints.
- Experience using calipers and micrometers.
- Basic math skills; ability to read and understand English.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Hands-on CNC mill experience in production manufacturing.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with JobBOSS or similar software.
- Interest in advancing to CNC Set-Up.
