Ken-Mar, part of the Altus Fire & Life Safety family of companies, is looking for a Shop Technician to join our team!
The Shop Technician is responsible for processing all work dropped off or assigned to the Ken-Mar shop for completion and return to our clients. This position supports several key areas of the business, including fire extinguishers, system cylinders, inert gas recharging, DOT hydrostatic testing, welding cylinders, and walk-in customer service.
The Shop Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products are processed efficiently, safely, and accurately while maintaining a zero-defect mindset. The goal of this position is to complete work on time, meet established production targets, maintain quality standards, and ensure that every customer's product leaves the shop properly serviced and ready for use.Hourly Rate: $18 - 20/ hourResponsibilities

- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work around compressed gas cylinders and fire protection equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and technical skills.
- required to take the exam for the NYC FDNY W96 portable fire extinguisher license
