Freight Department Specialist

Petroleum Traders Corporation is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our Freight Department. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

This position plays an important role in supporting our freight operations, carrier network, supply chain, and internal departments.

Responsibilities
  • Supply departments with accurate and timely carrier freight rates.
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers and evaluate competitive pricing.
  • Set up and maintain freight rate tables across multiple locations.
  • Maintain and update fuel surcharge tables.
  • Research, evaluate, and vet new carriers.
  • Set up new and existing carriers at multiple locations.
  • Obtain, update, organize, and electronically file carrier agreements and related documentation.
  • Audit carrier information, loading numbers, and related terminal activity for accuracy.
  • Perform daily insurance audits to ensure carriers maintain current coverage with no lapses.
  • Resolve loading, allocation, and carrier-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems that may affect freight operations and the overall supply chain.
  • Provide administrative support to Supply, Sales, Logistics, and other internal departments.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers and internal team members to resolve issues and maintain efficient operations.
  • Perform other freight and administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced freight environment where priorities and market conditions can change quickly.
