Position Summary

The Commercial Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and service environments. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Journeyman Electricians may also be responsible for mentoring apprentices and ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company standards and applicable electrical codes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Apply thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical regulations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, electrical drawings, and project documents.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial electrical systems.
• Diagnose electrical issues and develop effective solutions.
• Communicate technical information clearly with customers, contractors, project managers, and teammates.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, safety standards, and company policies.
• Perform conduit bending, raceway installation, wire pulling, terminations, and equipment installation.
• Monitor workmanship quality and maintain high standards of performance.
• Complete assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate job records, reports, and schedules.
• Assist with project planning, material management, and site organization.
• Mentor and train apprentices while promoting a positive learning environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.

Qualifications

Required

• Current Utah Commercial Journeyman Electrician License
• Commercial and/or industrial electrical experience
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and applicable codes
• Valid driver's license
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

• Service electrical experience
• Experience leading small crews or projects
• Knowledge of industrial controls, motors, and automation systems
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights
• Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
