VP Commercial & Ag Lending
Job Description
VP Commercial & Ag Lending
Location: Clear Lake, Iowa (on-site only — not remote or hybrid)
Compensation: $130,000 – $175,000 base, commensurate with experience
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established, independent community bank with a strong regional presence and a nine-decade track record of serving local businesses, farmers, and families. This bank has built its reputation on deep community ties and a genuine commitment to relationship-based banking. It has been recognized as a Top Workplace in its state for 15 consecutive years — a reflection of the culture and stability that come with joining this team.
Agricultural and commercial lending are core to this institution's identity, not a side business. The bank maintains a substantial ag loan portfolio and farm operating line book, and lending decisions are guided by leadership with deep credit expertise. This is an organization where credit acumen is genuinely valued and rewarded.
The Role
The VP Commercial & Ag Lending will join an established, well-resourced lending team, working alongside experienced senior lenders rather than operating in isolation. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned commercial and agricultural lender who wants to step into a supportive team environment with an existing client base, strong credit culture, and room to grow relationships across both commercial and agricultural sectors.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in commercial and agricultural lending, with direct responsibility for business development and credit administration
- Strong credit knowledge and analytical capability, paired with high personal accountability
- A demonstrated track record of building and retaining customer relationships in a community-focused setting
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Prior experience as a credit analyst is a plus
What's Offered
- Competitive base salary ($130K–$175K)
- 401(k) with a 6% employer match — well above market
- Health and dental coverage
- Employer-paid life insurance
- Short- and long-term disability coverage
- Health club dues reimbursement
- Generous paid time off and volunteer time
- Wellness program
