Express Employment Professionals in Lynchburg is recruiting on behalf of a respected local client for an Industrial Automation Electrical Designer who will own panel design and PLC-based controls for material-handling systems.

You Will
  • Draft control panel layouts and field device plans in AutoCAD (or equivalent electrical CAD).
  • Place motors, solenoids, photo eyes, limit switches, and related hardware into precise field layouts.
  • Choose PLC hardware based on I/O counts, memory capacity, and customer specifications.
  • Engineer motor and control circuits in line with UL 508A requirements.
  • Generate complete BOMs for panels, consoles, and field components; finalize production orders with all required materials and parts.
  • Prepare and submit layout sketches, schematic sketches, BOMs, and production worksheets.
  • Review early-stage drawings/BOMs and implement corrections prior to release.
  • Support the panel shop during build and wiring; coordinate interfaces with outside vendors.
  • Provide telephone support to field installers and troubleshoot issues; respond to customer-service needs.
  • Work overtime when project timelines demand it.
You Have
  • Direct experience designing electrical control panels and PLC-centric control systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
  • Knowledge of programmable controllers, including I/O sizing and memory requirements.
  • Solid understanding of motor and control circuits.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A standards.
  • Ability to read, review, and revise electrical drawings/schematics.
  • Background in creating bills of materials and production/manufacturing documentation.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
  • Clear communication and customer-service skills; able to coordinate with vendors, manufacturing teams, and field personnel.
  • Openness to overtime when required.
Compensation & Hours

Hourly rate: $38–$55, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and proven controls-design expertise.

Schedules: 4:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. or 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
