Job Description
Overview:
Signalink a dynamic, small defense contractor committed to excellence in providing advanced defense solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Apply mechanical engineering principles and methodologies throughout the lifecycle of aircraft modification, system integration, and aerospace engineering projects supporting U.S. Army aviation programs.
- Develop, analyze, and document mechanical designs for aircraft systems, components, structures, equipment, and installations.
- Develop engineering reports, calculations, analyses, drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation in accordance with program and customer requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and modify mechanical system and component designs in support of aircraft modifications, system integration, and installation requirements.
- Perform engineering analyses related to structural integrity, mechanical interfaces, equipment installation, weight and balance, environmental considerations, and system performance.
- Support the development and review of engineering substantiation and technical documentation supporting airworthiness and aircraft modification activities.
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, technical data, parts lists, military standards, and applicable industry standards.
- Coordinate with electrical, systems, manufacturing, configuration management, quality, and other engineering disciplines to ensure mechanical designs satisfy system-level requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including government customers, vendors, suppliers, and engineering partners, to resolve technical issues and support program objectives.
- Support design reviews, engineering change activities, technical investigations, and resolution of design and integration issues.
- Review engineering analyses, drawings, models, calculations, and other technical products developed by other team members and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Support the development of technical data packages, installation instructions, engineering change documentation, and other program deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace, military aviation, aircraft modification, or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience supporting mechanical design and engineering activities for aerospace, defense, or other complex systems.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, technical data, parts lists, and other engineering documentation.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Up to 10% travel.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
- Experience supporting aircraft modification, installation design, system integration, or sustainment activities.
- Experience with rotary-wing aircraft, particularly military aircraft.
- Familiarity with U.S. Army aviation standards, specifications, technical manuals, and engineering processes.
- Familiarity with aircraft structural and mechanical systems, equipment mounting, brackets, enclosures, tubing, ducting, or other aircraft installations.
- Experience supporting airworthiness, structural substantiation, qualification, verification, or validation activities.
- Experience working with engineering change proposals, technical data packages, configuration-controlled documentation, or installation drawings.
- Experience working in a government or defense contractor environment.
- Experience working directly with government customers or military aviation program offices.
