Shift: 3rd Shift, 10:30PM – 7:00AM
A Day in the LifeYou arrive to a clean, safety-focused toolroom and start by reviewing work orders for draw-die repairs. You inspect a die with micrometers and gauges, map out the repair plan, and head to the mill and lathe to machine replacement details. Between set-ups, you answer a call from production to troubleshoot a tooling concern at the stamping press, then return to finish grinding and fitting. Before shift-end, you document your work, prepare fixtures for a new product launch, and hand off notes to the next team.
Who You Report ToTool & Die Supervisor
Purpose of the RoleOwn the repair and upkeep of dies, punches, tool steel, and fixtures to keep production running reliably and safely.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate die condition using careful inspection and precise measurements to determine repair scope and methods.
- Execute die repair operations to restore performance and repeatability.
- Set up and run manual machines (milling machine, lathe, drill press, grinder) and other shop equipment under general supervision.
- Design and build tools and fixtures that support new product introductions.
- Pitch in with additional tasks as assigned.
- Comply with OSHA requirements and all internal safety standards at all times.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of verifiable machinist experience and/or a Technical Diploma.
- Solid shop math abilities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
- Aptitude for basic equipment maintenance.
- Working knowledge of CNC programming and operations is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to understanding, following, and reinforcing safety procedures.
- Ability to make administrative/procedural judgments and collaborate effectively on a team.
