Journeyman HVAC Technician

Location / Territory: Columbia, MO / Jefferson City & mid-Missouri

Compensation: $24–$34/hr ($50K–$71K annualized) + after-hours differential once on rotation

Role Summary

Midway is looking for a Journeyman HVAC Technician capable of independently handling routine residential HVAC work. The role offers hands-on responsibility, exposure to an expanding HVAC department and a pathway toward higher-level licensing and leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot residential furnaces and AC systems.
  • Diagnose basic controls issues.
  • Perform routine service and repairs independently.
  • Support HVAC installation work.
  • Assist with ductwork where qualified.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to customers.
  • Document service activity through Midway's field-service system.
  • Maintain safe, code-compliant workmanship.
  • Participate in seasonal overtime.
  • Join after-hours on-call rotation once trained.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of HVAC experience.
  • Active or near-eligible Journeyman/Type B credential.
  • EPA 608 Type II certification minimum.
  • Residential furnace and AC troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to independently complete routine service calls.
  • Clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HVAC installation experience.
  • Ductwork experience.
  • Light-commercial/rooftop-unit exposure.
  • EPA Universal certification.
  • Experience using Housecall Pro or similar field-service software.
