About the Role

A leading national property and casualty insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Senior Trial Attorney to join its expanding Tennessee litigation team. In this position, you will independently manage a diverse, moderate-to-high exposure civil litigation caseload from initial assignment through final resolution. Partnering closely with claims professionals and insured clients, you will drive strategic legal defenses and deliver top-tier courtroom representation.

Whether you thrive in trial, excel at complex motion practice and depositions, or bring strong mediation expertise, this role offers direct autonomy, collaborative backing, and long-term career growth.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary: $125,000 – $155,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

  • Workplace Flexibility: Fully Remote, Hybrid, or In-Person work arrangements within Tennessee.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Premium medical, dental, and vision plans, plus a generous 401(k) match.

  • Professional Advancement: Ongoing specialized legal training, leadership opportunities, and a platform to mentor junior attorneys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex civil litigation files from initial notice of loss through trial or settlement.

  • Formulate legal strategies, conduct targeted legal research, and establish strong affirmative defenses tailored to each claim.

  • Lead robust discovery, take and defend key depositions, and execute persuasive motion practice.

  • Represent insured clients at court hearings, pre-trial conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and bench/jury trials.

  • Partner regularly with claims adjusters and corporate stakeholders, conducting case evaluations and roundtable trial-prep sessions.

  • Mentor and guide less experienced staff and associate attorneys within the practice group.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Licensure: Active license in good standing with the Tennessee State Bar (Admission to the Georgia Bar is a strong plus).

  • Experience: Background in civil litigation and insurance defense. Proven track record in trial court or extensive hands-on experience with high-level motion practice, depositions, and mediations.

  • Advocacy & Negotiation: Exceptional courtroom presence, negotiation tactics, and oral argument capabilities.

  • Communication: Ability to break down complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for claims adjusters and insured clients.

  • Tech & Compliance: Proficiency with legal research platforms (Lexis/Westlaw), case management software, and holding a valid driver’s license with an acceptable MVR.
