Position Overview (Certified Medication Aide – CMA)

Polaris Rehabilitation & Care Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our nursing team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely administering medications while providing compassionate, resident-centered care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.

As a valued member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will help ensure residents receive medications accurately and on time while supporting their daily care needs, promoting comfort, dignity, and quality of life. This position is ideal for an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional care in a skilled nursing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medications accurately and in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and Wyoming state regulations

  • Observe residents for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and changes in condition, promptly reporting concerns to licensed nursing staff

  • Obtain and document vital signs as directed and communicate abnormalities appropriately

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medication administration documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, security, and disposal of medications in accordance with regulatory requirements

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including mobility, grooming, toileting, feeding, and personal care as needed within scope of practice

  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident requests and call lights

  • Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident care and medication concerns

  • Follow infection prevention, medication safety, and resident safety protocols at all times

  • Maintain compliance with all facility policies, CMS regulations, and applicable federal and Wyoming state requirements

  • Promote a clean, safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for residents

  • Participate in care planning, quality improvement initiatives, and other clinical programs as assigned

Qualifications
  • Current, active Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification in good standing in the State of Wyoming

  • Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing in the State of Wyoming (preferred or required in accordance with state regulations)

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication administration accuracy

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
