CNC OPERATOR

Position Description

Shift: 1st Shift: $21 – $23/hour
Shift: 2nd Shift: $21 – $23/hour + $2/hour shift premium
Pay Range: See shift options above

Purpose of the Job
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machinery to produce precision wood components according to design specifications and production requirements. This role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and quality in CNC-machined parts while supporting overall production flow in a woodworking manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines according to work orders, drawings, and programs.
  2. Load and unload materials, fixtures, and tooling safely and accurately.
  3. Verify CNC programs, tooling paths, and machine settings prior to production runs.
  4. Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
  5. Inspect machined parts using measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  6. Perform minor machine adjustments and offsets as required.
  7. Identify and report program errors, tooling issues, or equipment malfunctions.
  8. Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning as assigned.
  9. Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  10. Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  11. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe CNC work area.
  12. Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  13. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency and quality.
  14. Assist in training team members on CNC operation and safety procedures.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience operating CNC machinery in a woodworking or manufacturing environment preferred.
  3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CNC programs.
  4. Familiarity with CNC controls, tooling, and machine setup.
  5. Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  6. Basic understanding of machining processes and material properties.
  7. Ability to troubleshoot minor machine and program issues.
  8. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Physical Requirements
  1. Extensive standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
  2. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  4. Ability to work safely around moving machinery and rotating equipment.
Work Environment
  1. Continuous noise typical of a CNC and woodworking manufacturing environment.
  2. Exposure to wood dust, airborne particles, and machine lubricants.
  3. Production manufacturing environment with automated equipment.
  4. May experience hot, humid, dusty, or otherwise disagreeable conditions.
  5. Exposure to hazards where failure to exercise extreme care could result in serious injury.
