As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), you will play a critical role in delivering quality nursing care while promoting dignity, independence, and overall well-being.

Position Summary

In alignment with our mission to improve the lives of our residents, the GNA provides superior customer service and compassionate nursing care. This role safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of residents by following applicable laws, regulations, and established nursing policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide quality nursing care in an environment that promotes residents’ rights, dignity, and freedom of choice

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding

  • Provide incontinent care, transfers, ambulation assistance, and range of motion exercises

  • Maintain skin integrity through repositioning, incontinence care, and application of moisturizers and treatments

  • Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial conditions

  • Check vital signs, obtain weights, apply prescribed creams/ointments, and collect specimens as directed

  • Support individualized care plans and communicate observations to nursing supervisors

  • Assist the Wound Care Nurse as directed

  • Document care accurately and maintain strict confidentiality

  • Follow infection control standards and safety precautions

  • Respond promptly and courteously to call lights

  • Assist with admissions, re-admissions, and room transfers

  • Maintain a warm, respectful, and professional environment for residents, families, and team members

  • Attend required in-services and departmental meetings

  • Report hazards, damaged equipment, and supply concerns

  • Assist with training new staff members

  • Utilize designated computer systems proficiently

Qualifications
  • Active GNA certification (State of Maryland or applicable state)

  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety standards

  • Previous long-term care experience preferred, but not required
