At U. S. Steel’s Minnesota Ore Operations—home to two iron ore mines in Northern Minnesota—the Minntac Facility is hiring an Industrial Reliability Mechanic to strengthen our mechanical uptime in a heavy industrial environment.

- Apply your skill across plant areas that can be hot, cold, greasy, wet, dirty, and noisy.
- Use standard and specialized tools, including pendant and overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and systems: hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, conveyors, cranes, and mobile equipment.
- Assist operations as needed to support continuous production.
- Perform work at heights and/or within confined spaces.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, and partner with fellow maintenance technicians when the task calls for it.
- Minimum 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant military service) or equivalent education. Applicable experience may include hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, welding, pipe-fitting, structural repair, and diesel mechanic.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Rotating shifts required, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Overtime as needed.
- Strict adherence to safety practices and PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and boots with metatarsal protection.
- Demonstrated punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction.
- Pay: $42.56/hr.
