About the Opportunity
A precision manufacturing facility is hiring a 1st Shift CNC Machinist with strong experience operating and setting up vertical lathes (VTLs). This role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled with large turning equipment, tight tolerances, and heavy-duty machining. This is a hands-on, technical position supporting production of complex components for aerospace, defense, or industrial applications.
What You’ll Do
%CF; Operate and set up vertical lathes to machine precision components
%CF; Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
%CF; Perform tool changes, offsets, and in-process adjustments
%CF; Inspect workpieces using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology tools
%CF; Work closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure dimensional accuracy
%CF; Maintain equipment and keep work area clean and organized
%CF; Perform minor edits to programs when required
%CF; Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities
What You Bring
%CF; Strong, proven experience operating vertical lathes (required)
%CF; Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T
%CF; Working knowledge of CNC controls, tooling, and machining parameters
%CF; Ability to perform basic program edits and offsets
%CF; Experience holding tight tolerances on large/complex parts
%CF; Good communication skills and attention to detail
