Job Title:Machine OperatorReports to:Production ManagerGeneral Description:General operation of the production machines such as SWISS and CNC Lathe when necessary. Responsible for first inspection and inspection during production. Responsibilities: (50% Operating, 40% Inspecting, 10% Other)Use micrometers, calipers, pin gages, comparator and various other inspection equipment appropriatelyTurn on machine. Inspect for obvious problems. Inspect first part off at startup of machine.Check for Proper Material and Size before loading into Machine.Load Material into vises as required, making sure all chips have been cleaned out of clamping areas before tightly securing vise jawsOperate machine watching and listening for possible problems. (I.e. Loud noises, unusual sounds, broken or worn tooling etc.)Ability to understand and modify tool offsetsInspect and replace broken/worn tooling. Ability to touch off newly installed toolingAbility to meet or exceed production rates stated on work orderRead, understand information in workmanship standards and part drawingsFill out appropriate sections of work orderPerform and document S&R inspection procedures when appropriate (SPC charts, work orders, move tickets) Identify nonconforming product or materialWash tools and return to storage areaComplete the preventative maintenance check list Know and follow safety standardsMove parts to next operationRemove scrap Help with set-up operations Other duties as requiredPhysical and Visual Activities:Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity-far/near depth perception, field of vision and accommodation.Physical Demands:Lift up to 75 poundsJob Qualification Requirements:KnowledgeHigh school graduate or equivalent; reading, basic math, blueprint readingExperience1-2 year machine operating experience. Swiss CNC Experience Preferred, but CNC Lathe experience is also a plus. If no Experience then Training Period: 3 months to a yearInformation/DirectionsWritten and verbal work instructions, workmanship standards book (engineer drawings), quality control documentation (work orders, move tickets)
