CNC Machining Operations Supervisor (Rail Fabrication)

We’re adding a seasoned leader in Richmond, Illinois to guide our CNC and shop operations on second shift.
A Day-in-the-Life (Second Shift)Picture your afternoon starting with a quick safety huddle at 3:00pm, reviewing written procedures and training checklists before assigning machining jobs and warehouse priorities. You’ll coordinate closely with site and corporate leaders, verify machine setups to meet steel specification tolerances, and keep production flowing. Throughout the evening, you’ll coach Laborers and Machinists, certify paperwork accuracy, and step in on the floor when needed—whether it’s troubleshooting CNC programs, supporting heavy equipment operations, or aligning workflows to the Atlantic Track business plan. As the shift winds down, you’ll wrap with a status review, ensure documentation is submitted, and set the team up for success the next day.
Schedule & Onboarding- Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:00pm–1:30am (Second Shift)
- Training: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm (First Shift), then transition to Second Shift
- Work Location: On-site in Richmond, Illinois
- Plan, organize, and actively participate in operations of the St. Clair site; drive optimal day-to-day workflow in line with the Atlantic Track business plan
- Champion safety at all times: write/enforce area procedures and maintain effective, documented training programs
- Machine steel to precise specifications; ensure quality and throughput targets are achieved
- Build trust and a cohesive, cooperative team; lead Laborers and Machinists to accomplish production and warehousing goals
- Coordinate effectively with site and corporate leadership for smooth execution
- Oversee heavy equipment operations as needed
- Verify all required paperwork is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
- Develop deep familiarity with materials and processes to support team needs
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC, etc.)
- 8+ years of CNC experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of management/supervisory experience in manufacturing
- Proven ability to partner with and support leaders at all levels of management
- License or prior experience operating heavy equipment; welding certifications; CNC machining certification or experience
- Hands-on CNC machining capability and experience producing steel products, including machining steel
- Able to obtain internal forklift and overhead crane operation certification
- Capable of lifting and maneuvering up to 50 lbs.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Track record of recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and motivating teams
