Job Description

Property & Casualty Producer — Commercial Lines

A Book-of-Business Opportunity, Not a Cold Start

Harrison Gray Search has partnered with a respected, independent, privately held brokerage to find a Property & Casualty Producer for its Commercial Lines team — with a twist that most producer roles don't offer: this is a succession-planning hire. You'll inherit a substantial existing P&C book of business from a retiring producer, giving you immediate revenue and relationships to build on, while still having full runway to develop new business and make the role your own.

Department: Commercial Lines

Reports to: Director of Sales

FLSA Status: Exempt

Why This Role

  • Step into an established book of business — not a blank slate
  • Independent, privately held agency with a genuine relationship-driven culture
  • Uncapped earning potential: strong base plus commission (40% new business / 30% renewals)
  • Room to grow the book your way, backed by an experienced account management team

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership of an inherited book of commercial accounts, managing renewals, retention, and growth from day one
  • Build a pipeline of new prospects, scheduling appointments and presenting tailored coverage solutions
  • Gather and analyze the information needed to underwrite, market, and quote new and renewal business
  • Partner with account management on service delivery — coverage reviews, financial evaluations, benchmarking, and placement
  • Develop sales strategies that expand the firm's presence in its markets
  • Cultivate referral relationships with centers of influence and industry partners
  • Stay sharp on market conditions, regulatory changes, and industry trends
  • Present renewal strategies and alternative coverage options with a consultative, advisory approach
  • Engage in ongoing sales training and professional development
  • Travel as needed for client meetings and business development

What You Bring

  • Active state Property & Casualty license (required)
  • 3+ years of P&C sales experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
  • A relationship-first approach — you build trust with clients, carriers, and colleagues alike
  • Strong grasp of coverages, forms, and risk management fundamentals
  • Comfort with Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Self-starter energy with a team-first mindset
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, not required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Strong base salary plus commission (40% new business / 30% renewals)
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401(k)
