Position: Radiation Therapist
Location: Neptune, NJ
Duration: 24 Weeks (with possibility of extension)
Schedule: 4x10 shifts, varied opening/closing shifts between 5:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist to provide safe and effective radiation therapy treatments in accordance with prescribed treatment plans and simulation instructions. The Radiation Therapist will work closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure accurate treatment delivery and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and monitor prescribed radiation treatments safely and accurately.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and patients for procedures.
  • Position and immobilize patients according to treatment plans.
  • Obtain and evaluate portal images and make appropriate corrections when required.
  • Perform treatment-related calculations according to established procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate treatment documentation.
  • Explain procedures and equipment to patients and provide appropriate education.
  • Verify informed consent before treatment.
  • Perform treatment simulations using conventional and/or CT simulation equipment.
  • Document setup instructions, including treatment distance, field size, treatment depth, and gantry/collimator angles.
  • Evaluate diagnostic images for treatment field placement.
  • Construct and apply immobilization devices, bolus, shielding blocks, and lead cut-outs as required.
  • Perform patient contouring in appropriate planes.
  • Calculate monitor units according to procedures established by the Medical Physicist.
  • Perform and document quality assurance procedures for treatment and simulation equipment.
  • Monitor treatment equipment and report malfunctions appropriately.
  • Maintain treatment and simulation rooms in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment needed for daily operations.
  • Coordinate treatment schedules with patient transportation and patient-care departments.
  • Assess patients' physical conditions and respond appropriately to special needs.
  • Answer patient and family questions within the scope of professional practice.
  • Provide appropriate patient education throughout the treatment process.
  • Assist with clinical education of Radiation Therapy students.
  • Follow departmental safety, quality, and radiation protection procedures.
  • Provide patient-centered care appropriate to age, culture, language, literacy, and accessibility needs.
Required Experience
  • 1–2 years of Radiation Therapy experience.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • TrueBeam
    • Linear accelerator systems
    • Radiation therapy simulation (SIMS)
Required Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved Radiation Therapy Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure
  • ARRT certification/registration in Radiation Therapy.
  • Current New Jersey Radiation Therapy license as required by state regulations.
