As a Civil Litigation Paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting attorneys and clients in employment law and personal injury matters. Civil Litigation Paralegals perform substantive legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys in the office. A Civil Litigation Paralegal’s primary goal is to support our Civil legal team, which mainly focuses on personal injury and employment law cases in litigation stages by conducting legal research, reviewing/analyzing/summarizing evidence, drafting memos, pleadings, motions, and orders, as well as preparing for hearings and trials.

In this role, you will coordinate case details from intake through trial and assist attorneys through all phases of litigation. Responsibilities include conducting client and witness interviews, legal research, document preparation and filing, and supporting trial preparation and attendance. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on teamwork.

Compensation:

$45,000 - $56,000 annually annual performance bonuses


Responsibilities:

You’ll work closely with our attorneys to support litigation matters in employment law and personal injury. Your work will directly impact the lives of clients.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:

  • Organization and management of pre-litigation and litigation cases
  • Assisting attorneys with drafting, proofreading, filing, and service of correspondence, pleadings, and discovery
  • Conduct research and organize information relevant to cases
  • Handling of incoming and outgoing mailings
  • Maintenance of electronic case files; document and maintain case details
  • Communicating with clients to gather information and obtain evidence
  • Obtaining and analyzing evidence (such as medical records, medical bills, employment files, etc.), including the creation of spreadsheets and chronologies
  • Assisting with trial preparation, including the assembly of trial binders and witness testimony coordination
  • Communicate with clients, experts, and other parties to provide updates, gather information, and answer basic questions about the status of the case.
  • Lead discovery meetings with clients.
  • Manage and monitor case progress, deadlines, and important timeframes/milestones.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize evidence (such as crash reports, medical records, medical bills, subrogation liens, employment files, workers' compensation files, unemployment compensation files, and other various documents received throughout the pre-litigative and litigative process).

Qualifications:
  • Attention to detail and accuracy to produce error-free, quality documentation
  • 2-3 years paralegal experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Working knowledge of practice management software and tracking billable time per case
  • Problem-solving
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures
  • Time management, the ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • It is not required, but it is preferred that a Paralegal have completed a course of study offered by a college or university especially for Paralegals and possess a certification as a trained paralegal.
