Job Description
Qualifications:
The Temporary Utility Worker position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, and perform hands-on cleaning tasks safely and efficiently.
Prior experience with industrial cleaning practices is required, while forklift experience and familiarity with plant safety programs are preferred.
Basic computer skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment are also important for success in this role.
Safety Comes First - All required PPE will be provided by the company with the exception of the steel toe shoes which the employee is responsible and must be available on first day.

Overall Job Summary Temporary Utility Worker
The Temporary Utility Worker supports daily plant operations at the Roxboro Gypsum facility, with a primary focus on maintaining housekeeping and cleanliness standards across the manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient plant by continuously cleaning equipment and work areas, monitoring material flow, and assisting production as needed.
Key Job Duties
Primary Responsibilities (Majority of Time)
Maintain plant cleanliness by performing ongoing industrial cleaning of equipment, floors, and work areas.
Monitor and manage a portable material hopper, ensuring consistent material levels and coordinating removal when full.
Use a variety of cleaning tools and methods, including brooms, vacuums, dusters, and air wands, to meet housekeeping standards.
Work safely in a manufacturing environment while consistently following PPE requirements and safe work practices.
Additional Responsibilities
Support plant operations by completing other assigned tasks based on production needs.
Maintain professional communication and teamwork with coworkers and supervisors.
Identify and suggest opportunities to improve processes or equipment.
Work Environment
Works in a mix of indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
Scheduled for 10-hour shifts, with no travel requirements. MUST remain onsite for lunch breaks (plan to pack your lunch).
Physical Requirements Summary
This position is physically demanding and requires frequent movement and manual work in an industrial setting. Key physical requirements include:
Constant use of vision and ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust mask, and steel-toe footwear.
Frequent standing and walking on plant floors for extended periods.
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching while performing cleaning tasks.
Frequent lifting of tools and materials up to 25 pounds.
Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements, including gripping, handling, and using cleaning equipment.
Frequent communication (talking/hearing) in a production environment.
Occasional climbing or balancing as needed for access to certain areas.
Tools Used
Hand tools such as shovels, brooms, squeegees, and vacuum systems are used frequently to complete cleaning duties.
