Job Description

This role focuses on constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood and metal across a variety of construction projects. You apply strong technical carpentry skills, follow detailed plans and specifications, and consistently deliver safe, high-quality workmanship. You contribute to both rough and finish carpentry tasks, support general construction activities, and work closely with other trades to complete projects efficiently and to code.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, mark, cut, and assemble wood, metal studs, and other construction materials with precision.
  • Build and install structural components such as framing, walls, floors, roofs, and formwork for concrete.
  • Perform finish carpentry tasks, including installing doors, windows, cabinetry, trim, siding, and other interior and exterior elements.
  • Install and repair drywall and related rough carpentry components in both new construction and renovation settings.
  • Carry out demolition tasks safely and efficiently as part of remodeling or reconstruction projects.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Ensure all carpentry work complies with applicable building codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area to support productivity and safety.
  • Assist with general construction tasks and support other team members as needed throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of carpentry experience or completion of an apprenticeship, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials used in both rough and finish work.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and project plans.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment commonly used in carpentry.
  • Solid math and measurement skills to ensure accurate cuts, layouts, and installations.
  • Proven attention to detail and high standards of craftsmanship in all carpentry tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Comfort working in commercial construction environments, including active job sites and unfinished buildings.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying materials, and working on ladders or scaffolding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Experience with framing, drywall installation, and rough carpentry preferably in commercial construction settings.
  • Knowledge of siding installation and roofing-related carpentry work.
  • Experience with concrete form carpentry, including building and dismantling formwork.
  • Familiarity with metal stud construction and associated installation techniques.
  • Experience in demolition work as part of renovation or remodeling projects.
  • Reliable, dependable work habits with a focus on quality and meeting project deadlines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn, ME.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
