Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Special Education Teaching License
  • Solid background working with students with varying abilities
  • Experience with behavior intervention plans, positive behavioral supports, or as a Behavior Specialist
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both with colleagues and families
  • Patience, empathy, and a creative approach to adapting lessons and supports

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and adapt curriculum for students with special needs
  • Design and implement effective behavioral interventions and classroom management strategies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create and sustain individualized plans
  • Document student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to assessment and goal-setting
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom community
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in best practices
