Job Description
An exciting contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher with expertise in supporting students with autism. This full-time position, conveniently located near Jefferson, OH, will place you at the heart of a supportive middle school environment, working closely with a small, focused caseload in an autism unit. You’ll work 35 hours per week on-site, from approximately August 24th through June 4, 2027.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to middle school students with autism, focusing on both academic and social development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Utilize a variety of evidence-based strategies, adapting your teaching style to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
- Engage with families to foster effective communication and encourage student progress.
- Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment, implementing proactive behavioral and instructional supports.
The ideal candidate brings:
- Valid Special Education Teacher credentials or eligibility for certification in Ohio.
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, preferably in a middle school or similar setting.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively and maintain a student-centered approach.
