Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Technician to support a busy agricultural manufacturing operation. In this role, you maintain and repair packing and processing equipment, spray pumps, and related machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance and condition of packing equipment, spray pumps, and other automated machinery throughout the shift.
- Perform mechanical repairs on packing equipment, spray pumps, conveyors, DC motors, and automated pump systems to minimize downtime.
- Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues with pumps, motors, gears, and other machine components.
- Operate and adjust machine settings as needed to support smooth packing and processing operations.
- Complete daily logs and maintenance records accurately to document inspections, repairs, and equipment status.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while prioritizing tasks and responding to equipment issues promptly.
- Support general warehouse and packing house operations by ensuring equipment remains safe and fully operational.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working with mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and schedule equipment downtime effectively.
- Be available for significant overtime as needed to support peak production periods and shift coverage.
- At least 2 years of mechanical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues quickly.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools for mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Experience working with pumps, motors, gears, and automated equipment in a production setting.
- Ability to monitor equipment performance and identify potential problems before they impact operations.
- Demonstrated repair experience on machinery or mechanical systems.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working with little supervision while maintaining high standards of work quality.
- Ability to work in a warehouse or packing house environment and handle physically active tasks.
- Willingness to work a late shift (4 PM–12 AM) after an initial training period on first shift.
- Openness to working substantial overtime based on operational needs.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bakersfield, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
