Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Situated in a scenic Southern California town, this inpatient hospital seeks a highly skilled pharmacist for a two-week coverage period in August 2026. The role requires a candidate with inpatient pharmacy experience, proficiency in sterile compounding (excluding chemotherapy/hazardous drugs), and the ability to work a consistent weekday schedule with on-call availability for weekends and after hours.
Location: Big Bear City, CA
Position Type: Per Diem
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time)
- On-call weekends and after hours (calls are infrequent)
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety
- Compound sterile medications, such as IV admixtures and unit dose medications
- Ensure strict compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and sterile compounding standards
- Respond promptly to emergency codes as needed
- Monitor medication therapies and provide clinical recommendations to healthcare teams
- Maintain inventory and refill Pyxis machines at two local family health centers
Qualifications:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License (required)
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience (required)
- Experience with pharmacy software systems such as CSPI, Evident, or Pyxis preferred (training available if needed)
- Comfortable working independently as the sole pharmacist in a clinical setting (preferred)
- Ability to cover all scheduled on-call hours (required)
