About the Role:

The Camera Operator plays a critical role in capturing high-quality visual content for a variety of media productions including television, film, live events, and digital platforms. This position requires a keen eye for detail, composition, and movement to ensure that the visual storytelling aligns with the director's vision and production goals. The Camera Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining camera equipment, as well as collaborating closely with the production team to adapt to dynamic shooting environments. Success in this role results in visually compelling footage that enhances the overall narrative and engages the target audience effectively. Ultimately, the Camera Operator contributes significantly to the creative and technical excellence of the production process from pre-shoot preparation through post-shoot wrap-up.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Camera Operator or similar role in film, television, or live event production.
  • Strong understanding of camera equipment, lenses, and technical settings.
  • Ability to interpret and execute creative direction effectively.
  • Physical ability to handle and maneuver camera equipment for extended periods.
  • Valid work authorization to operate in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training or certification in cinematography, film production, or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced camera systems such as RED, ARRI, or similar high-end digital cameras.
  • Knowledge of video editing software and post-production workflows.
  • Familiarity with live broadcast environments and multi-camera setups.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced production settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate various types of cameras and related equipment according to production requirements.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and other crew members to understand shot composition, framing, and movement.
  • Adjust camera settings such as focus, exposure, and zoom to capture optimal footage under varying lighting and environmental conditions.
  • Monitor and maintain camera equipment to ensure functionality and troubleshoot any technical issues during shoots.
  • Follow safety protocols and production schedules to ensure timely and efficient completion of filming tasks.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Camera Operator to expertly manage camera equipment and capture footage that meets the creative vision and technical standards of the production. Proficiency in adjusting camera settings and framing shots ensures that the visual content is both aesthetically pleasing and contextually appropriate.
