Job Description
CRISIS SPECIALIST
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Personal stability, flexibility, energy, resourcefulness, and commitment to working with people recovering from severe mental illness in a crisis setting.
2. Current CPR and First Aid; driver's license and safe driving record.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, including:
* teamwork decision making ability
* ability to give direction and set limits
* ability to carry out mental status assessment
* ability to extend trust and care while maintaining professional distance
4. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
5. Formal training or significant experience in crisis interventions.
6. Highly developed sense of organization extending to time management, activities planning, housekeeping, and documentation.
7. Meet credentialing and privileging requirements as set out in Policy and Procedures.
DUTIES:
- Maintain total confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA law, CARF accreditation standards and Maryland State Regulations.
- Using the electronic medical records, input data and following through seeing services to their completion.
- Carry out Plans of Care developed by the treatment team for achieving client mental stabilization within a 15-day period, including:
* medications monitoring
* daily activities planning and implementation
* client mental status assessment and group assessment providing group and individual
* training and counseling concerning mental illness, medication, healthy living choices
* teamwork strategies, evaluation, documentation
* meal preparation
*property maintenance and laundry
4. Coordinate follow-up with client's referring treatment team as assigned by Crisis Team Leader.
5. Develop network of community crisis supports and maintain close ties to them; use community
resources carefully and appropriately.
6. Carry out triage on emergency mental health calls for agency on call system.
7. Schedule appts using the EHR, input data, and follow services and documentation through to
completion.
8. Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor.
9. Participate in all Crisis team and staff meetings.
10. Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely fashion.
11. Take part in all agency-sponsored training as required by supervisor.
12. Other duties as assigned by Crisis Team Leader.
13. All shifts are overnight at the Crisis House.
CRISIS SPECIALIST
AUTHORITY:
Position report to Crisis Team Leader. Schedules and additional duties subject to change in accordance with program and member’s needs; will be provided by Crisis Team Leader.
Classification, Salary, and Benefits:
Regular, full- or part-time position; non-exempt from overtime; salary arranged by letter of appointment.
