TIG Welder
Job Description
The TIG Welder is responsible for fitting, positioning, aligning, and welding fabricated plates, structural shapes, and weldments in preparation for assembly into structural fabricated products, in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. This role supports production by delivering high-quality stainless steel welds and ensuring all work meets established standards and dimensional requirements.
Responsibilities- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations and determine the appropriate sequence of tasks.
- Determine required equipment and welding methods by applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Lay out, position, and securely clamp parts and assemblies according to specifications using tools such as straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts accurately during welding and fabrication.
- Fit, tack, weld, and flatten various parts according to dimensions and specifications on engineering drawings.
- Set up and operate required machinery and equipment for the selected welding method, with a focus on TIG and MIG processes.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with drawings, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Ensure the quality of finished goods meets company standards and aligns with all drawing specifications.
- Complete assigned duties on schedule in accordance with direction from production leadership, consistently meeting deadlines.
- Accurately track and record timekeeping information in a timely manner.
- When necessary, complete redline and engineering request forms with clear and complete information, following established procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Treat tools and equipment with care, and return them to their proper location when not in use.
- Collaborate effectively with team members while also being able to work independently as required.
- Follow all shop policies, procedures, and safety guidelines while performing welding and fabrication tasks.
- At least 5 years of experience in TIG welding.
- Proven experience welding stainless steel components.
- Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret welding symbols and specifications.
- Extensive knowledge of TIG and MIG welding processes and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to execute work accurately while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Basic English skills, both written and verbal, sufficient for following instructions and documenting work.
- Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment, including layout and measuring tools such as straightedges, squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, reaching, squatting, and standing for at least 8 hours per day.
- Experience working with sheet metal and fabrication in a production environment.
- Proficiency in both TIG welding and MIG welding for a range of materials and thicknesses.
- Strong layout and fitting skills for complex assemblies and structural shapes.
- Comfort working in a structured production setting with established processes and quality standards.
- Availability for a 2–3 week project assignment, with a current and detailed resume provided for consideration.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a clean weld shop environment that includes bench work as well as areas equipped with fabrication machines and a larger production welding area. The workday follows a day shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The facility is organized and production-focused, with established procedures, quality standards, and access to the necessary welding and fabrication equipment to perform TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel and other materials.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wilsonville, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
