Job Description
Join a day-shift manufacturing team as a CNC Mill Machinist responsible for setting up and operating 3-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision metal components. You will perform multiple setups per day, conduct in-process inspections, and make tooling changes as needed to maintain quality, efficiency, and production standards in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture metal parts according to specifications.
- Perform multiple machine setups throughout the shift based on production schedules and job requirements.
- Load CNC programs, install fixtures, and verify machine readiness prior to production runs.
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
- Change, replace, and adjust tooling as necessary to maintain quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Monitor machine performance and make offsets or adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Document inspection results and production data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all shop safety guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with production leads, programmers, and quality personnel to meet delivery and quality objectives.
- Perform own machine setups on mills and lathes as required to support production.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments to verify part conformance throughout the machining process.
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC mill setup experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience setting up and operating 3-axis CNC milling machines.
- Ability to perform multiple setups per shift with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of machining metal materials and cutting tools.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Experience performing first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, tool wear, and tool change procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.
- Ability to perform own setups at the machine on both mills and lathes.
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls for CNC equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Experience with Haas or similar CNC milling equipment.
- Familiarity with G and M codes for CNC programming and troubleshooting.
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively on a day shift schedule.
- Steel-toe footwear with metatarsal guards, or the ability to obtain them before starting work.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing environment on a day shift schedule, working approximately from early morning through mid-afternoon. You will work on 3-axis CNC milling machines, and may also support lathe operations, using Fanuc-controlled equipment and precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators. The work involves machining metal components in a high-mix, low-volume setting, requiring frequent setups and close attention to quality standards. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, and team members are expected to maintain an orderly work area. The position requires standing for extended periods, handling metal parts, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Steel-toe footwear with metatarsal guards is required as part of the shop attire to ensure proper protection in the machining environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sherwood, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
