The Warehouse Lead oversees daily warehouse operations, providing clear direction to the warehouse team to ensure beer and related materials are safely received, stored, loaded, and shipped. This role manages inventory of packaging materials and finished beer, verifies all incoming and outgoing products for accuracy, and maintains detailed shipping and receiving documentation. The Warehouse Lead serves as a key communication link between the brewery and offsite warehouse, while ensuring all warehouse equipment, including forklifts, remains in safe and reliable working condition.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide the warehouse team in safely receiving, storing, loading, and handling beer and other materials.
  • Perform regular inventories and cycle counts on packaging materials and packaged beer as required.
  • Handle, store, and prepare all beer products for shipment to the offsite warehouse, ensuring products are not damaged.
  • Unload incoming ingredients and packaging materials and verify their accuracy against purchase orders or bills of lading.
  • Match loads to purchase orders or bills of lading and complete master receiving and shipping logs accurately.
  • Check and verify all incoming Microstar orders and submit required daily and monthly reports.
  • Reconcile inventory load discrepancies in collaboration with packaging, brewing, and the offsite warehouse teams.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the brewery and offsite warehouse for both incoming and outgoing products.
  • Maintain all warehouse equipment, including forklifts, in good working order and coordinate maintenance and warranty work as needed.
  • Perform accurate data entry to support inventory management and documentation processes.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Proven ability to operate a stand-up forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Forklift certification, with the ability to maintain compliance with all safety standards.
  • Experience with inventory management, including cycle counts and reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Competence in data entry to maintain accurate inventory and shipping records.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write clear and simple correspondence for internal communication.
  • Ability to effectively present information to supervisory and production personnel.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and multiplying and dividing with tens and hundreds.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical ability to regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl while performing warehouse tasks.
  • Physical ability to regularly lift and move more than 100 pounds.
  • Visual acuity including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar inventory management systems.
  • Background in brewery, beverage, or food-related warehouse environments is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in loud environments and around fumes or airborne particles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with packaging, brewing, production, and offsite warehouse teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying orders and completing documentation.
  • Reliability and flexibility to handle changing duties and priorities as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brewery and associated warehouse facilities in the Richmond, VA area. The primary workspace is climate-controlled, but you will regularly enter refrigerated areas to retrieve product and cases. While performing daily tasks, you may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold, and the noise level is typically loud. The position follows a first-shift schedule, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, as well as regularly lifting and moving more than 100 pounds. Warehouse equipment such as stand-up forklifts and inventory management systems, including SAP, are used routinely to support operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandston, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
