Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist oversees all shipping and receiving activities, calculates shipment costs, prepares bills of lading and shipping orders, and supports a variety of utility tasks across the company as needed. This role combines hands-on work in a construction-related environment with accurate data entry and documentation to ensure materials and products move efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Handle, load, and unload materials using appropriate hand and power tools in a construction-related setting.
- Review and interpret blueprints or basic construction drawings as they relate to shipping, receiving, and installation needs.
- Support window fabrication and assembly activities by coordinating materials and shipments for commercial projects.
- Act as a utility resource within the company, assisting other teams and departments when needed.
- Follow all safety procedures while working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in shipping, receiving, and fabrication spaces.
- Collaborate with team members and leads to ensure on-time deliveries and installations for commercial clients.
- Contribute to installation support for commercial window projects by ensuring correct materials and components are available on-site.
Essential Skills
- Experience as a construction laborer or in a similar hands-on, construction-related role.
- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with shipping processes, including preparing and handling bills of lading (BOLs).
- Ability to perform accurate data entry related to shipping, receiving, and inventory.
- Basic understanding of blueprints or construction drawings.
- Ability to work reliably in an indoor and outdoor environment with varying temperatures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and cost calculations.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines in a fabrication and installation setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction labor or related trades is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working with windows, glass, and related building materials.
- Ability to learn new trade skills and installation techniques over time.
- Willingness to take on utility tasks and support multiple teams across the company.
- Interest in growing into a lead role with added responsibility.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and commercial clients’ project schedules.

Work Environment
The work environment is a mix of indoor and outdoor settings in a fabrication and installation context. The facility is not temperature-controlled, so it can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and you will work in conditions that vary depending on whether the project is commercial or residential. The client fabricates and assembles windows for commercial buildings, such as office structures, and the team is responsible for installing these windows on-site. The typical schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of working up to approximately five hours of overtime in a day when project demands require it. You will regularly use hand and power tools and work around glass, windows, and construction materials in an active, trade-focused environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
