Job Description
This role focuses on pipefitting and installation work for a resort in Glendale, AZ. You will work extensively with copper and steel piping systems, including chilled water and condenser water piping, and contribute to the installation and support of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. The position requires strong technical pipefitting skills, the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints, and a commitment to working safely in a physically demanding environment with substantial overtime opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Install and retrofit copper and steel piping systems in a commercial environment, including chilled water and condenser water piping.
- Perform copper pipe ProPress work and ensure all connections meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Support the installation and configuration of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems as part of the mechanical retrofit.
- Read, interpret, and work from mechanical drawings and blueprints to lay out and install piping accurately.
- Determine and apply fitting takeouts for screw and weld fittings to ensure proper pipe lengths and alignment.
- Work with screw pipe systems, including measuring, cutting, threading, and assembling components.
- Ream and deburr piping as required to prepare joints and ensure clean, safe, and reliable installations.
- Perform layout work for piping runs and equipment connections based on drawings and site conditions.
- Use tools and equipment to push, pull, lift, and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
- Climb up and down ladders and operate lifts to perform work at heights up to approximately 15 feet.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods while completing installation and retrofit tasks.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including safe use of tools, ladders, and lifts, and adherence to site safety rules.
- Maintain regular attendance and be available for overtime and weekend work as required by project demands.
- Work outdoors and indoors in a data center setting, including exposure to heat and various weather conditions during the project.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members to ensure timely completion of project milestones and high-quality workmanship.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a pipefitter or in a closely related mechanical piping role.
- Strong experience with copper pipe ProPress systems and tools.
- Knowledge and experience with Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems.
- Hands-on experience working with copper and steel chilled water piping.
- Hands-on experience working with copper and steel condenser water piping.
- Ability to calculate and apply fitting takeouts for screw and weld fittings.
- Demonstrated experience working with screw pipe, including cutting, threading, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and layout documents.
- Capability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Ability to climb ladders and operate lifts to perform work up to approximately 15 feet in the air.
- Willingness and physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods.
- Availability to work 60–72 hours per week, including overtime and weekends, with regular attendance.
- Comfort working in heat and various other weather conditions as required by the project schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Industrial pipefitting experience, particularly in large facilities.
- Journeyman-level mechanical pipefitter experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with reaming and deburring piping to prepare joints.
- Experience with layout work and interpreting detailed mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with copper pipe work in diameters of 3 inches or less.
- Exposure to brazing and soldering techniques; while not required, this experience is beneficial.
- Commercial plumbing experience is acceptable and can be relevant to the role.
- No specific license is required for this position.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
