Job Description

This role is responsible for brazing aerospace products made from stainless steel and copper alloys, using torch and induction brazing techniques in a factory environment. The position combines hands-on fabrication work with accurate documentation, computer-based job tracking, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform oxy-acetylene torch brazing and induction brazing on aerospace products made from stainless steel and copper alloys.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, grinding machines, metal shears, rotary machines, and related equipment to complete fabrication tasks.
  • Pull jobs from inventory, verify job details, and complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately.
  • Read and accurately follow written procedures, job travelers, drawings, and other work instructions.
  • Navigate the company intranet and E10 system using a computer to perform job and labor transactions.
  • Utilize hand tools, borescopes, and magnifiers to inspect and verify work quality.
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Complete all required training and remain current with updates to processes, safety protocols, and job requirements.
  • Adhere to corporate environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and task-specific safety protocols, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of prior fabrication experience in a factory environment, preferably within aerospace or medical manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on fabrication work using a range of hand tools and shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work documents, including procedures, job travelers, and engineering drawings.
  • Good math and reading skills to support accurate measurements, calculations, and documentation.
  • Experience using hand tools safely and effectively in a production environment.
  • Ability to use a borescope and 10x–15x magnifier to inspect parts and ensure quality standards.
  • Capability to complete a vision screening required for detailed inspection work.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize computer systems for job and labor transactions.
  • Physical ability, depending on assignment, to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged periods, reposition the body as required by various tasks, and use a range of tools and work-related supplies.
  • Ability to perform manual lifting activities up to 40 pounds by a single individual.
  • High School diploma or GED.

Work Environment

This position operates in a factory environment focused on aerospace fabrication, using equipment such as oxy-acetylene torch brazing systems, induction brazing equipment, grinding machines, metal shears, rotary machines, and various hand tools. Work involves detailed inspection using borescopes and magnifiers, computer use for intranet and E10 system navigation, and adherence to environmental, health, and safety protocols including appropriate personal protective equipment. The primary schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm and Friday from 6:00 am to 10:00 am, with training provided on 1st shift. Duties may require standing or sitting for extended periods, using stairs, repositioning the body for different tasks, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
