Shop Technician
Job Description
The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of equipment, primarily flooring equipment. This includes diagnosing complex equipment problems while adhering to all safety rules. The role ensures equipment is in optimal working condition for rental customers, minimizing downtime. The technician should possess comprehensive knowledge of all shop equipment offerings and be proficient in diagnosing issues.
Responsibilities- Service and oversee major repairs of all types of equipment to ensure proper working condition when leaving the shop.
- Dismantle and reassemble/rebuild equipment, fabricate parts and equipment as required to meet shop and customer needs.
- Diagnose complex mechanical equipment problems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime in the field.
- Perform safety inspections on equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe shop work environment.
- Provide support to other mechanics engaged in equipment repairs or maintenance.
- Assess time and cost of repairs.
- May specialize in specific types of large equipment in large Profit Centers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Mechanical skills and experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Troubleshooting capabilities with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly and electrical maintenance up to 480 volts.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, pumps, generators, and construction equipment such as excavators, backhoes, aerial lifts, and trucks.
- Great attitude and reliability.
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn and undergo training.
- HVAC knowledge is a plus.
- Military experience is a plus.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an indoor shop environment, operating on a 1st shift schedule during day hours only. This is a temporary position lasting for six months.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New Orleans, LA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
