Job Title: Quality Technician

Job Description

The Quality Technician works in a machine shop environment to ensure precision‑machined parts and components meet exact customer and engineering specifications. This role focuses on in‑process and final inspections, verifying dimensions, identifying defects, and documenting compliance using precision measuring tools. By rigorously checking parts before they move to the shipping department, the Quality Technician helps prevent costly recalls and rework and supports continuous improvement of production quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections during the fabrication process to verify that machined parts meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Conduct final inspections of finished products prior to release to the shipping department.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure operations meet established production and quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometer screw gauges, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Carry out visual inspections to identify defects, nonconformities, and cosmetic issues on machined components.
  • Establish and apply quality standards for products produced in the machine shop.
  • Inspect and test materials and equipment produced to confirm compliance with quality requirements.
  • Remove or segregate products that do not meet production standards and recommend strategies to improve product quality.
  • Accept or reject finished products based on inspection results and communicate findings clearly to the production team.
  • Perform random inspections to assess ongoing product quality and detect potential process issues early.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain records that support traceability and quality assurance.
  • Recommend and support necessary adjustments or changes to production processes based on inspection data and quality trends.

Essential Skills

  • Previous manufacturing inspection experience in a machine shop or similar production environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometer screw gauges, and tape measures.
  • Solid understanding of quality assurance principles and production quality standards.
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspections to identify defects and nonconformities.
  • Capability to establish, follow, and enforce quality standards for machined products.
  • Skill in documenting inspection results and communicating clearly with production teams.
  • Ability to make informed decisions to accept or reject products based on quality criteria.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience setting and refining quality standards for products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in inspecting and testing materials and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Experience recommending process improvements based on inspection findings and quality trends.
  • Comfort performing random inspections to monitor and maintain consistent product quality.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills in a production setting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production staff to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop setting focused on precision‑machined parts. The schedule follows daytime hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You work around machining equipment and production lines, regularly using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other inspection instruments. The environment is hands‑on and detail‑oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and adherence to production and quality procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
