Job Description
The Construction Technician supports a variety of commercial construction projects with a strong focus on concrete repair, demolition, placement, and strengthening. This role works on exterior labor environments and larger construction sites, contributing to structurally sound, long-lasting structures while following strict safety practices and collaborating closely with a field team.
Responsibilities
- Perform concrete repair on a variety of commercial structures, ensuring durability and structural integrity.
- Execute concrete demolition safely and efficiently using tools such as jackhammers and other demolition equipment.
- Handle concrete placement and finishing, including pours, leveling, and surface finishing to meet project specifications.
- Support concrete strengthening activities, including installation of reinforcement systems and related materials.
- Build, install, and remove formwork using carpentry skills to support concrete pours and structural elements.
- Replace and install rebar and other reinforcing steel according to project plans and safety standards.
- Apply caulking and sealants to joints, cracks, and seams to improve waterproofing and extend structure life.
- Install and maintain expansion joints to accommodate movement and prevent structural damage.
- Apply coatings, epoxies, and waterproofing systems to protect concrete and other surfaces from environmental exposure.
- Assist with carbon fiber installation and other advanced strengthening techniques for structural reinforcement.
- Perform general framing, carpentry, and related construction tasks as needed on job sites.
- Carry out demolition and site preparation work, including debris removal and basic site cleanup.
- Follow all site safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, and actively contribute to a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members in a solution-oriented manner to complete projects on time and to quality standards.
- Travel to and from jobsites throughout Denver, surrounding areas, and other locations as required by project needs.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, arriving prepared and ready to work at each jobsite.
- Adapt to varied exterior labor environments, including different weather conditions and terrain.
- Participate in training opportunities to learn new techniques, tools, and trade skills and grow within the company.
Essential Skills
- 1+ year of commercial construction experience is preferred, including work on larger construction sites.
- Acceptable experience can include farm work, landscaping, concrete work, or other exterior labor environments.
- Should have approximately 2+ years of experience in construction or related labor; training is available for strong entry-level candidates.
- Hands-on experience with concrete repair, demolition, placement, and finishing.
- Ability to work with formwork and basic carpentry tasks to support concrete pours.
- Experience with rebar replacement and reinforcement installation.
- Familiarity with caulking, expansion joints, and general waterproofing practices.
- Capability to apply coatings and epoxies on concrete and other surfaces.
- Comfort using demolition tools such as jackhammers and other power tools in a safe manner.
- Understanding of basic site safety practices and willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Reliable transportation to and from jobsites in Denver and surrounding areas.
- Willingness and ability to travel to various in-state and out-of-state projects for extended periods.
- Team-oriented mindset with a focus on solutions and safety.
- Physical ability to perform exterior labor, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in varied weather conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in landscaping, farm work, or other outdoor labor roles that demonstrate physical stamina and reliability.
- in framing, carpentry, or general construction tasks.
- Exposure to waterproofing systems and coating application on commercial structures.
- Experience working on larger construction sites with established site safety programs.
- Interest in learning advanced structural strengthening techniques such as carbon fiber installation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with field crews and supervisors.
- Self-motivated attitude with a desire to learn a trade and grow within the construction industry.

Work Environment
This role is field-based and involves working on commercial construction sites in exterior labor environments. You primarily work throughout Denver and surrounding areas, with regular travel to projects across Colorado, including locations such as Aspen, Telluride, Cortez, Crested Butte, Vail, and Denver. You also travel out of state to Texas, including Houston, Dallas, and Galveston. After local work is completed, you may travel for periods of up to three weeks at a time. When projects are more than 70 miles from the shop, lodging is provided and you receive a daily per diem, with different rates for resort and non-resort locations. The work involves hands-on use of tools and equipment such as jackhammers, carpentry tools, and concrete finishing tools, and requires adherence to strict site safety standards. The environment is physically demanding, outdoors, and fast-paced, offering exposure to a variety of structures and construction methods while working closely with a supportive, safety-focused team.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
