Job Title: Field Installation Carpenter

Job Description

This role involves working in the field as part of a team to assemble, build, and install temporary structures in commercial environments using hand tools and following detailed work instructions. You will perform physically demanding carpentry and construction tasks, contributing to the safe and efficient installation of framing, decks, roofs, doors, windows, and other structural elements.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the field with a team to assemble, build, and install temporary structures in commercial and construction environments.
  • Follow written work instructions and plans to accurately construct and install structures using hand tools.
  • Perform carpentry-related tasks such as building and installing framing, cabinets, decks, roofs, doors, windows, scaffolds, and finish products.
  • Use hand tools and basic construction tools safely and effectively during installation and building activities.
  • Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Work on your feet for extended periods while performing physical labor, including bending, reaching, and climbing as needed.
  • Support loading and unloading of trucks, moving materials to and from work sites as required.
  • Assist with general construction and warehouse labor tasks, such as organizing materials and preparing job sites.
  • Ask questions and seek guidance from experienced team members and leadership to learn new tasks and procedures.
  • Adapt to working outdoors in all weather conditions, including winter travel when required.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe work site for yourself and your team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by communicating clearly and supporting coworkers during installations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of general labor-type work experience, including building and installing framing, cabinets, decks, roofs, doors, windows, scaffolds, and finish products.
  • At least 6 year of experience performing physical labor, including being on your feet for long periods and regularly lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for construction and installation tasks.
  • Comfort working in construction or similar environments such as roofing, concrete work, farm work, warehouse labor, or other physically demanding roles.
  • Ability to work outside and in all weather conditions, including cold, heat, and inclement weather.
  • Capability to ask questions, follow instructions, and learn new tasks and techniques through training.
  • Reliability in working full-time hours and supporting field installation schedules.
  • Basic understanding of safe material handling, loading, and unloading practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience building structures or tents, particularly in commercial or event settings.
  • Experience with warehouse pick/pack, forklift or hilo operation, and general warehouse labor.
  • Experience in construction trades such as roofing, concrete work, or farm hand experience.
  • Comfort working in commercial construction environments with changing site conditions.
  • Willingness to travel during the winter season as part of field assignments.

Work Environment

You work primarily in commercial construction environments, spending most of your time in the field on active job sites. The role is physically demanding, with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, extended periods on your feet, and regular use of hand tools and basic construction equipment. You may support loading and unloading trucks and moving materials around the site or warehouse areas. Work takes place outdoors and indoors, and you must be comfortable working in all weather conditions, including during the winter, when travel to various locations may be required. Attire typically aligns with construction site standards, emphasizing practical, durable clothing and appropriate safety gear suitable for commercial and field-based work.

This is a Contract position based out of Muskegon, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
