Job Description
The Maintenance Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of industrial equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting equipment issues, identifying root causes of failures, and implementing effective repairs to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The technician works across multi-craft disciplines, supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives in a full-time manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on AC/DC motors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, lift trucks, and other industrial equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Diagnose equipment issues, determine the root cause of malfunctions, and implement effective corrective actions to restore safe and reliable operation.
- Safely disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery, ensuring proper fit and function, and recommend appropriate replacement parts when needed.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, ladder logic, blueprints, and technical manuals to support accurate troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, including 3-phase 480V power distribution.
- Troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs), analog and digital drives, and support PLC-related issues, including basic modifications and programming when required.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify dimensions, tolerances, and alignment of mechanical components.
- Use electrical test equipment including voltmeters, ohmmeters, amp meters, and meggers to diagnose electrical circuits, components, and insulation integrity.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on hydraulic and pneumatic (fluid power) systems to ensure proper operation and reliability.
- Support PLC troubleshooting activities and assist with minor programming changes and modifications, as preferred and as needed by operations.
- Assist with welding and fabrication repairs, contributing to equipment modifications, structural repairs, and reliability improvements.
- Participate in failure reporting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities to identify recurring issues and develop long-term corrective actions.
- Follow all safety standards, electrical codes, and company procedures while performing maintenance tasks to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance history, and manage preventive maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize work, coordinate repairs, and support efficient plant operations.
- Work independently on assigned tasks and respond to equipment issues during off-shifts, including required 3rd shift coverage.
Essential Skills
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with AC/DC systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and PLC-supported equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in preventive and predictive maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on proficiency with hydraulics and pneumatics, including fluid power systems used in industrial machinery.
- Mechanical repair skills with gearboxes, pumps, motors, and related rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical manuals.
- Experience performing root cause analysis (RCA) to identify failure modes and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of reliability functions and practices in an industrial maintenance setting.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Proficiency in using electrical test instruments including voltmeters, ohmmeters, amp meters, and meggers.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with attention to detail and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work off-shifts, including required 3rd shift work in a manufacturing facility.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and ability to use them for work order and maintenance tracking.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
- 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or an electrician role (preferred).
- Strong multi-craft skillset, combining mechanical and electrical capabilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience with welding and fabrication for equipment repair and modification (preferred).
- Basic understanding of reliability engineering concepts and functions in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The environment requires adherence to safety standards, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and comfort working on a 3rd shift schedule in a busy, production-focused facility
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockwall, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
