The Heavy Assembler builds, tests, and prepares high-pressure hydraulic cylinders and pumps for shipment in a machine shop environment. This role focuses on precise mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, and repair, while ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble various high-pressure hydraulic cylinders and pumps according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Perform testing on assembled hydraulic units to verify proper operation and performance.
  • Diagnose issues and carry out mechanical and basic electrical repairs on hydraulic equipment as needed.
  • Prepare finished products for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and final quality checks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment at all times.
  • Use hand and power tools effectively to manage assemblies and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulics documentation, and electrical schematics to guide assembly and repair work.
  • Follow all shop procedures and safety guidelines while working with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Consistently organize the work area to support productivity and reduce hazards.
  • Handle materials and components safely, including standing and lifting up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8-hour shift.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in high-pressure hydraulic cylinder assembly.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulics principles and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and repair.
  • Troubleshooting skills for hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical issues.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively for assembly work.
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment, standing and lifting up to 50 lbs. for an 8-hour shift.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and stay organized.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with pneumatics in an industrial or machine shop setting.
  • Background in troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with repair processes for pumps, cylinders, and related equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean shop and well-arranged work area.
  • Ability to follow technical documentation and assembly instructions accurately.
  • Comfort working around machine shop equipment and industrial tools.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop environment focused on the assembly, testing, and repair of high-pressure hydraulic cylinders and pumps. You will work around industrial machinery, hand tools, and power tools, and spend most of the day on your feet, standing and lifting components up to 50 lbs. for an 8-hour shift. The shop emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety procedures, creating a structured and efficient workspace where proper tool use and equipment handling are essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartland, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
