POSITION SUMMARY:
- We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to support capital and project accounting activities across a large-scale retail organization.
- This role partners closely with Construction, Real Estate, Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment of capital investments, asset management activities, and complex business initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform accounting analysis and oversight for capital projects, construction, remodels, facility improvements, and asset replacement initiatives.
- Evaluate expenditures and determine appropriate capital versus expense treatment in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.
- Manage fixed asset accounting activities, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, impairments, and asset retirements.
- Research and resolve complex accounting issues involving historical transactions, project costs, and asset management.
- Support month-end close activities, audits, and internal control requirements related to capital and fixed asset accounting.
- Partner with project managers, construction teams, real estate professionals, procurement teams, and finance leadership to provide accounting guidance and business support.
- Review project documentation and provide recommendations regarding accounting treatment and financial impact.
- Drive timely resolution of accounting and project-related issues through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of:
- U.S. GAAP
- Project Accounting
- Fixed Asset Accounting
- Capitalization policies and principles
- Capital project accounting
- Experience supporting construction, facilities, real estate, capital projects, or other asset-intensive environments.
- Experience supporting month-end close activities, including:
- Journal entries
- Reconciliations
- Accounting analyses
- Financial reporting
- Strong understanding of accounting treatments for complex and non-routine transactions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Data analysis and reporting functions
- Experience working with Oracle and/or another major ERP system.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA designation preferred but not required.
- Experience in retail, distribution, manufacturing, or multi-site operating environments.
- Experience supporting large capital investment programs and project-based accounting environments.
- Experience leading accounting processes, special projects, or process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of project accounting systems, fixed asset subledgers, and enterprise financial systems.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Construction, Real Estate, Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams.
